Fizoptika Malta has successfully presented its newest inertial products – smallest fiber optic gyroscope VG221 and miniature FOG-based inertial measurement units (FOG IMUs) at GEO WEEK (Denver, USA) and Oceanology International Americas (San Diego, USA).
The fiber optic gyro VG221 was the center of attention being revolutionary small and lightweight with ultra-low power consumption (∅33×12 mm, 15 gram, 0.3 Watt). The VG221 has two new variants – VG221MS (magnetically shielded case) and VG221LN (low noise performance).
The FOG IMUs are based on three VG221-like sensors and have been developed to satisfy growing market demand for low SWaP (size, weight and power) inertial products for autonomous and unmanned systems. The units are well-suited for inertial navigation systems (INSs) in drones / UUVs / USVs / ROVs. The FOG IMU U121D is housed in a compact Al enclosure (63x56x40 mm) and consumes just 1.5 Watt of power. It features bias of 3°/h and ARW of 0.05°/√h. The FOG IMU U123D has an ultra-compact cylindrical design (∅40×100 mm) and delivers low noise performance with 1°/h bias and 0.05°/√h ARW. The unit has very low power consumption of 1.5 Watt, too.
